On Saturday, the New York Liberty beat the Los Angeles Sparks 98-88, adding a win to their streak and extending their regular season wins to 14. The Liberty has won 10 of their last 11 games and hold a record of 8-1 at home.

Today’s win would not have been possible without reigning MVP Breanna Stewart, who dominated the game in points and achieved her 3rd 30+ point game this season.

Stewart scored 19 points in the second quarter, matching the Sparks Q2 total, and assisted for 10 additional points, allowing them to lead 54-44 at the half. With 24 points, 5 assists, and 5 blocks, she became the first WNBA player with this 20/5/5 stat line in any half.

By the end of the game, Stewart had 33 points, 7 assists, and 6 blocks, joining Napheesa Collier, Candance Parker, and, most recently, A’ja Wilson as the 4th player in WNBA history with 30+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ blocks in a single game.

Other major scorers for the Liberty included Sabrina Ionescu with 24 points and 9 assists and Kayla Thornton who made 6/7 3-pointers for 20 points.

The Liberty will play their next two games away; Sunday against the Atlanta Dream (6-8) and Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx (13-3) for the Commissioner’s Cup.
