The Chicago Sky won their second home game in a row, tying their streak for consecutive wins this season. Their top performers included rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, who both had double-doubles, and Chennedy Carter.
With a career-high 25 points and 16 rebounds, Reese completed her 8th consecutive double-double to add to the WNBA rookie record she currently holds. Additionally, with today’s performance, Reese is the first rookie with this 25+/15+ stat line in a single game since A’ja Wilson (2018).
Cardoso, the Sky’s other starting rookie, shot at 77.8% from the field and made 7 of her 9 shot attempts. Her efficiency allowed her to set a career-high for points with 16 alongside 10 rebounds. Of the 9 regular season games she has played, this was her second career double-double and third time shooting over 70% from the field.
Although Chicago’s rookies delivered stellar performances, tonight’s win would not have been possible without guard Chennedy Carter. Through the first quarter, Carter shot at 100% from the field for 11 points. She was able to maintain shot efficiency through the end of the game and finished with 23 points and 5 assists.

Despite the dominant performances from the Sky, this was only their first win this season against the Fever after they lost both previous games played in Indiana. Today’s game was a near miss, with the Sky trailing by as much as 15 and beginning the 4th quarter with an 8-point deficient.
The Fever was led in points by Kelsey Mitchell with 24. Their rebounds and assists were respectfully led by duo Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, whose synergy seems to be improving with each game. Clark completed a double-double with 17 points, including 5 3-pointers, a franchise-high 13 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Boston had 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks.
Reese, Clark, and Cardoso are gaining more confidence as the season persists and it is clear that their teams are making the rookies feel comfortable on the court.
Their last regular season matchup will be Friday, August 30th at Chicago, and will be available to watch at 7:30 PM on ION.
