Las Vegas Aces star center A’ja Wilson played hard through all six games with the U.S. women’s basketball team in the Paris Olympics. Her outstanding efforts awarded her a second Olympic Gold medal (Tokyo, 2021) and her first Olympic MVP award.
In their final game of the Paris Olympics, Wilson achieved one of her most valuable double-doubles. She managed 21 points and 13 rebounds, along with 4 crucial blocks that helped to contain France’s aggressive offense and ensure their team prevailed in this competitive match. The U.S. women’s team won by only 1 point (67-66), which was the smallest margin since their semi-final game with Russia in 2004 (66-62).

By the end of this tournament, Wilson led the 2024 USA women’s basketball team in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goals, free throws, and efficiency. She averaged 18.7 PPG and 10.2 RPG, and there is no doubt that this dynasty could not have maintained its winning streak without her, which is now at 61 consecutive wins since August 1992.
With their latest Olympic Gold medal win, U.S. women’s basketball has broken the tie between them and U.S. men’s basketball of seven consecutive golds. In total, the women’s team has won 10 Olympic Gold medals.

In a post-game interview, Wilson stated “It truly is a dynasty that we have built here at USAB and it has been incredible. I am so proud of the resilience that my team showed…. To say I am a two-time gold medalist, I am so blessed.”
Wilson is favored to win WNBA MVP for the 2024 season and currently leads the Aces in PPG, RPG, SPG, and BPG. This would be her third time winning this accolade (2020, 2022) and would tie her with Lauren Jackson and Sheryl Swoopes as WNBA players with the most MVP titles.
