Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese makes WNBA history as the first player in the league to record 20+ rebounds in three consecutive games.

Reese has recorded 22 double-doubles this season (15 consecutive), and the latest three consisted of 20 or more boards (19PTS/20 REB vs. Mercury, 13PTS/20REB vs. Sun, 11PTS/22REB vs. Aces). In her most recent game against the Las Vegas Aces, Reese had a career-high 22 rebounds, which is the most by any player in a single game so far this season.

With her 22nd double-double after only 28 games played, Reese ties the rookie record for double-doubles. It is expected that she will break this record in their upcoming game against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday, August 28th.

Reese not only leads the league in rebounds per game (12.6), but with 352 total rebounds, she has recorded more rebounds than any other player this season. With her 13.6-point average, she’s currently the only rookie averaging a double-double.

Despite the effort put forth by Reese and the Sky on both sides of the court, the Aces came out on top with a 2-point win at the last second thanks to two-time MVP A’ja Wilson. Wilson was assisted by Chelsea Gray and made it past a screen set by Kelsey Plum on Reese (who was able to keep Wilson’s scoring at 29% with her defensive efforts throughout this game).

With today’s win, the Aces broke their two-game losing streak and are now 3-3 in their post-Olympic games. This game also put them 2-1 against the Sky, who they will play once more in the regular season on Tuesday, September 3rd.
